Design Inspiration
Freyr, the god of daylight and abundance in Norse mythology, is the god of sowing, harvesting, pastoral care and reproduction. Freyr is the son of Njörðr, the god of Warner, and the sister of the beautiful goddess Freya. He is also the king of Álfheim, the kingdom of the elves, and his light elves (Ljósálfar) give words and do good deeds.
In ancient times, the two gods, the Asa and the Warner, fought a long and indistinguishable battle, and both sides became tired of it. Freyr was originally a fighting deity in Warnerheim, but after arriving in Asgard, he became the god of manna, sunshine and the fruits of the earth. He is the personification of the golden summer sun and the warm summer rain.
Freyr's wife was Gerðr, the daughter of the mountain giants Gymir and Aurboða, and Freyr lost his weapon in order to marry her, leaving him without a weapon at the twilight of the gods. Freyr eventually married Gerd, and they met and married in a forest called Barri. In the story of the Kings of Norway, Freyr and Gerd had a son named Fjölnir, who was the ancestor of the Swedish dynasty of Inglin.
